Simplicity

Happy Earth Day!

This weeks theme for Texture Tuesday is 'simplicity'.

I have a wonderful little stash of sea shells and beach glass - memories of summer and past vacations.
I love the simplicity of the neutral tones, the texture of the glass, and the swirls and ridges of the shells.

I used one layer each of Kim Klassen's "0101" and "Mere" on this photo.

Enjoy your day!

Perfectly Imperfect

I see such beauty in things that are imperfect - a faded flower, patina on metal, weathered wood - things that are all around us, everyday.
The Japanese word for this is Wabi-Sabi - the beauty of things that are imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.
I'm joining up with Texture Tuesday with a "perfectly imperfect" image.

I used two layers of Kim Klassen's "Golden" texture on the image above.

I hope that you are having a fantastic day!

A Ghost in the Photo Booth

This weeks Beyond Beyond class challenge is to create a strip of photos that look like those taken in a photo booth.

Coincidentally, I'd just finished reading the book Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.  I picked up the book because I was intrigued by the surreal and ghostly images on the cover and inside the book. (There aren't any ghosts in the story - just peculiar characters).

Wouldn't it be cool if a photo booth captured a visiting ghost?

If it did maybe it would look like this.

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend!

For the Love of . . . Nature

I'm joining Texture Tuesday with a nature image.

I love snapping photos of birds - what a really, really love is when I capture one in mid-flight.
I can never capture an image like this intentionally - it is always by chance, and then often the image is blurry.

I snapped this photo last weekend (yes, we still had snow! - luckily it's melted away over the last few days).

Gosh, I think this little bird is beautiful and I love the bit of snow bursting from the branch from his takeoff.

I used one layer each of Kim Klassen's "Serious Magic" and "Canvas Magic" on this image.

Have a wonderful day!

Joy

This morning the snow was falling again - blowing and whipping around in the icy gusts of wind - and I wondered if Winter will ever take a break and let Spring take center stage.

As I look out my window now, the stormy winds have died down to a gentle breeze and a warm sun is shining.

Perhaps Nature pulled an April's fools joke this morning?

Today I am finding joy in the bright sunlight and a few spring flowers :)

Both images were textured with Kim Klassen's Aurora texture
Enjoy your day!
