Making Memories

Not long ago I read a brilliant tip on making memories – when something wonderful is happening make a mental snapshot – remember the feelings along with the images that you see.

Last week I had the opportunity to spend the day with four wonderful women – breakfast, shopping, talking, and dinner – the entire day!

It was a day of laughter, joy, and beautiful positive energy . . . so uplifting and so powerful.

I made so many mental “snapshots” – so many memories.

Memories
Memories

I used two layers of Kim Klassen's Tuesday texture on this image.

Sure, there were moments of guilt (leaving the care of children in other capable hands, a house that should be dusted, piles of laundry to be sorted – our lists, they are never ending).

It is so important to care for ourselves and to make connections; even if that means that our to-do list is put on hold.

By the end of the day my body was bone tired – but I felt so alive.  I am so grateful to be able to spend time with these beautiful, loving, and joy-filled women.  Truly blessed.

I hope that your day is beautiful!

Be Wonderfully Odd!

  1. Well, great minds! Yes, memories are precious, we need to protect and preserve {sounds like the FBI or something} them. And I wholeheartedly agree on self-care. Why are women so bad at that?

  2. Oh my goodness, Sheila! This is just so touching...the photo of memories, and the words! You described a special time with friends so beautifully...yes, we too need "self-care" and times away from our list of to-do's. It is very rejuvenating and uplifting. Thank you so much for sharing this post! I it !!

  4. So happy that you enjoyed the day with your friends. Making time to nurture friendships is not always easy, but the rewards are great and the growth significant. What a wonderful idea to take snap shots with your mind - quick and easy and still permits you to stay in the moment with your friends rather than stuck behind a camera. Love your image which captures your sentiment exactly.

  5. I'm happy you got to have some time for yourself. So important when surrounded by wee ones so much of the time. Memories are precious. May we always hold them and the people who make them close to our hearts.
