Finding Yellow in nature

I’m joining Friday Finds today

I’m seeing lots of yellow in the garden lately.  I notice lots of pinks and purples in early summer, but in the bright summery days of July the yellows seem to be everywhere – glittery and golden.

These are the kinds of photos that I’ll look at again when I am tired of winter and its’ too many bleak grey days – a reminder of brighter and warmer days of summer.

Do you like or dislike the color yellow?  I’ve only recently begun to appreciate this color; sometimes yellow can be too warm, brassy, and “attention getting”.   But it can also be beautifully soft and barely there, or act as a highlight when placed next to another color like green, blue, red, orange . . . almost any other color :)

Have a great day,

And be wonderfully odd!

Capturing Emotion - Shy

This week’s Beyond Beyond assignment is to capture an emotion or a feeling.

Even though I take photographs almost every day, I really don’t care to be in front of the camera - too shy I guess :)

I found myself strangely drawn to this ghost-like image.  I really like the movement, the wispy hair, and the ethereal feel of the photo.

Both photos were textured with a scanned piece of canvas.

Have a wonderful day!

Nature

Joining Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesday today

I love the colors in nature - lush greens and yellowy warm summer sun.

We have lots of birds that enjoy the feeders in our back yard – such a joy to see them every day.

I used one layer each of Kim Klassen's July1 and July2 textures. I used one layer each of Kim Klassen's July1 and July2 textures.[/caption]

Beyond Beyond Day 19 – Kim’s Beach and My Style

This week’s task was to alter Kim Klassen’s beach photograph.  It always feels a little bit “wrong” to take one of Kim’s beautiful photos and change it – below is Kim’s original and then my version.

I love this quote of Eleanor Roosevelt.  I tried to give Kim’s photo a dreamlike feel.  The right side is a pencil sketch idea of a dream and, moving to the left, the realization of that dream.  The pencil sketch technique is in the Sept/Oct issue of Adobe Photoshop Elements magazine.

My Style
I don’t know that I have a style, but I do like taking photos of the plants and wildlife in my backyard.  Below is a favorite of mine – a wild bird bath party.
